One of the Most Important Traits for Parents to Develop? Patience.

One of the most important traits for parents to develop is patience.

Building a solid foundation for your child is a slow and grinding process. Great things take time.

This is one of the toughest lessons I’ve had to learn as a parent.

Need to tie our shoes? Sweet, no problem. How hard can that be?

Need to take a walk? Should be no reason for tears there.

Need to learn our letters? That should be easy. Well. Fast forward to, “Holy moly. We just spent 30 minutes on the same 3 letters and I’m not sure why my child is staring into the ceiling fans smiling and picking his nose. Learning U, T, and V might be the death of me.”

As parents, it’s tough to accept the fact that it might take 4 weeks to learn these 3 letters because our child has little to no attention span for learning letters. It’s tough, but at the end of the day, that’s the way it is and our kids need us to develop patience.

It’s not for us, it’s for them.

There is no shortcut and there are no easy wins. Great things take time and our kids are no exception.

Stay strong parents.
